Bethesda Medical (BM) was established in Suntec City since 1995. Recognising the limitations of solo GP practices and inherent lack of service support, Bethesda was set up as a multi-doctor comprehensive Medical & Screening Centre with modern equipped facilities to provide care in a convenient location.
In 2020, responding to needs from Ministry of Health (MOH) as part of COVID measures, Bethesda Medical setup a medical centre for migrant workers at Kallang Recreation Centre to cater to medical and COVID testing needs of migrant workers. Subsequently, Bethesda worked with Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to set up a regional medical centre for migrant workers at Gul Circle in late 2020.
In 2021, Bethesda Medical worked with various government organisations and companies which includes the below:
– Contracted by MOM to manage COVID-19 testings for migrant workers in CMP sectors in 12-15 SHN dedicated facilities (hotels) as well as in 5 Migrant Workers Onboarding Centres (MWOC)
– RRT testing for companies and government organisation, including PUB, MOM, National Sports Associations and various SHN hotels
– PET testing for church services (Wesley Methodist, Grace Assembly, Bethesda churches etc), association (Buddhist Association), education institutions (NUH Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine), weddings and events (including trials of new ART test kits with STPB and Suntec Convention Centre)
– From 2021-2022 – Quick Test Centres at Suntec Convention Centre and Zouk Singapore
From Jan 2022, we assisted MOM in onboarding of migrant workers by setting up and managing work pass medical examinations, COVID-19 testing and updating of oversea vaccine records and COVID-19 vaccination centres in 3 MWOCs. The current MWOC in Sengkang is equipped to process the onboarding requirement for up to 22,000 migrant workers a month.
The name Bethesda is inspired by the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem where a multitude of sick people gathered for healing and from the Biblical parable of a bedridden man of 38 years being healed by Jesus.
